Welcome to the Route Drivability Tool

The RDT is an online tool that allows you to assess how a proposed or existing signalling scheme design impacts on the train driver's workload – or the drivability of a route.

By taking into account various aspects of human performance in engineering designs we can build infrastructure that optimises the driver's workload.

This helps us to improve safety, set more realistic journey times, make informed investment decisions and meet our challenge to increase capacity on Britain’s railway.
